Alena Moiseeva, makeup artist:

“After the complex events in the world associated with the pandemic and the political agenda, the beauty industry has seen a surge in color, textures and unusual combinations, as opposed to restraint and monotony. Creative youth are looking for inspiration in Asian subcultures and digital art. Hence the variety of arrows, color schemes and complex makeup techniques. As a makeup artist, these trends cannot but rejoice me.

Having met with photographer Igor Pavlov in his home studio, we decided to discuss how a young modern girl, left alone at home, decided to experiment with makeup.

I tried to make simple versions of makeup so that absolutely everyone can repeat them with a certain supply of cosmetics.

Makeup experiments are a dream about how beauty can change the world

“All the images are united according to the principle of “beautiful vibrant skin”: I used high-quality deep moisturizing and a super light tone, even refusing concealer.

In the first image, the emphasis is on blush. To make the shot play, I used very bright, almost vibrating neon shades of blush and blended them together

“In the next look, we decided to change the focus. I applied a rich blue matte shadow all over the model’s lids. Then we went further and increased the contrast of the makeup with bright red eyelashes and lipstick. This image is my favorite!

“In this shot, I completely redid the image and played the arrows with the help of color and texture shine on the eyelid.”
